Lauren raised awareness for CLDF while taking part in Miss Mermaid UK and was delighted to be awarded Miss Kent!
The regional titles of the beauty pageant were decided at an evening event with rounds including Little Black Dress Round, Eco Round (where outfits were put together from charity shop items), and Evening Dress Round.
“Miss Mermaid UK isn't like any other pageant, it welcomes entrants aged 18-32, any style, any size” explains Lauren, who had a liver condition as a child. “They are also very much charity orientated and massively support the conservation of marine life.
“We had to say a little about ourselves on stage (which was terrifying) and had a three minute interview with the judges.
“The next heat is at the end of July at Billing Aquadrome. I'm nervous for this one already! But I get to wear a mermaid tail and swim under water for one of the rounds, so that should be pretty exciting!”
At the next round the title of Miss Mermaid UK will be awarded, after which the winner goes on to the international final.
Good luck to Lauren from everyone at CLDF!
